Appeal for information to all alumni and current scholars of the Felix Scholarship below.

The Trustees and administrators are keen to start both an Alumni Association and a networking association for the Felix Scholarship but require input from alumni and current scholars in order to start the ball rolling.

Unfortunately, because of the UK Data Protection Act, it is not possible for contact information relating to scholars to be passed between the universities and the administrators without the specific permission of each individual scholar. It would be an incredibly time consuming task for the scholarship registrars of each university to look back in their archived files, find the correct details and attempt to contact each scholar. It is just not economically feasible.

This is where you, the scholars, come in. It is probable that you have some kind of contact with a number of alumni either directly or via other scholars. All that is required of you is to pass the word around that there are two schemes currently awaiting information:

1. The alumni section of the official Felix website (www.felixscholarship.org). It would be great if current scholars would register with the alumni section immediately they complete their course of study.

2. The networking association via Professor Virander Singh Chauhan in Delhi (felixscholarships@gmail.com and/or viranderschauhan@yahoo.com ). Prof Chauhan is trying to build a network of scholars, not only those from India but also those from other parts of the world. Two of the aims are to encourage more alumni to actively take part in the selection process by sitting on the Selection Committees and to print a newsletter.

The only way that an Alumni association and/or a networking association will work is if information is provided to the relevant associations and this requires some effort on behalf of the alumni/scholars. We are sure that you would agree that this is a wonderful opportunity for all Felix scholars, past and present, to participate in organising the structure of such associations and carrying them forward.
